Exhausted!!
I'm so exhausted today. A few days ago I called my doc to prescribe me some meds for a UTI. Casen has been so fussy and the night before last he was up all night. I think I got an hour of sleep, plus he didn't nap at all yesterday, which means no nap for me either. I was so afraid he was starting to get colicky. he was showing all of the signs of it. Well last night it hit me that maybe the meds for my UTI are affecting Casen. I started reading all the info that comes with the prescription and it says DO NOT TAKE WHILE BREAST FEEDING!!! So I start crying because my babies been in pain and I'm mad at the doc for prescribing it to me. So we start to feed him formula, which thank goodness he takes a bottle. I call my doc to prescribe me something else. Then I just had this feeling like maybe I should just take him into the doc just to make sure he's ok. So i get him in the car at 9:10pm. Thank goodness for twilight pediatrics!! Darin was at a meeting, So I took Casen alone. We get there and I tell the doc what I think is going on, but we figure out it was something totally different that has been making him so upset. He has this ingrown hair tract on the back of his head that had grown bigger since birth and became infected. So every time we would hold him, or lay him down it would bother him. The doctor drained what was in there and had us go back in today to get checked again. We have to meet with a surgeon on Monday to get an MRI to make sure the tract is not attached to his skull at all, if it is we will have to have to have the tract removed to prevent infection to the brain. Casen was prescribed some meds for the infection. He has done great since we drained the bubble. It sounds scary, but he is doing really well, and we are going to see the surgeon just to be cautious. Thank goodness he's been sleeping though. He's actually sleeping right now, so I think I will join him. I'll keep you posted.

That's so crazy! I have no idea what that is, but that's so good that the doctor noticed without you bringing him in for that. I hope you're both feeling better!
Way to follow your maternal instinct! I hope he doesn't need surgery, but thank goodness for modern medicine. I'm glad you're finally getting some rest!
Alyssa-
That does not sound easy at all. I am glad you have a sweet husband to remind you how loved and appreciated you are. May I just say that UTI's are the worst. I had them for like a year and half. I know Casen is lucky to have you. I'll pray for a speedy recovery for the both you. Hang in there. Chari
wow...that is scary. i have never heard of that alyssa. NEVER. keep us posted on monday's apt. i'm so glad he's sleeping better for you. what a relief. you're aweome for taking him in- HURRAY for motherly instincts huh? loves.
A mother's intuition! Luckily you felt the need to go into the dr. I hope all goes well.
Oh my goodness! I know this wasn't the biggest part of the story, but why in the world did the doc prescribe a medicine that you shouldn't be taking while breast feeding? That's a little scary. I'm glad that they found out what was really going on though. Poor thing! It can only get better, right?
Oh my gosh that sounds so scary! I hope it all gets figured out soon!
great job catching the problem while severly sleep deprived! good luck with everything, hope you both feel better soon.
Ok, I know that you don't know me but I happened to be blog hopping (I know Kate Winsor) and found your post about your adorable son having a cyst. Just wanted to let you know that my son had a cyst that was surgically removed when he was three months. His was on the side of his neck and was the size of a golf ball. The surgery was scary for me as the mother but not a huge deal according to the doctors. Point of this story is to let you know that you are not alone... it happens to more babies than you'd think. Good luck!
