Date night & Kitchen Sneak Peak!

We went out with our friends the Melchers & Deans to Maggiano's.

Alyssa, Natalie, Linnlee

So this is just a sneak peak of our "new"kitchen. A while back Darin agreed that it would be cool to paint our cabinets. I've been wanting to do this since we moved into the house 3 years ago. I was so excited when he finally agreed. So I had a guy come over and give me a quote. Which was pricey. But to me it sounded worth it since i wouldn't be doing an
y of the work myself. The quote was about $2500. Darin flipped when he heard that and said there was no way he was paying someone that much when we could just do it ourselves. It took a little while to get over how hard it was going to be and I kept wishing that Darin would realize how hard of work it was going to be and give in and just pay someone. Ya right. I planned it all out. We started in our laundry room first, the day after Thanksgiving. I'm so glad we started and practiced there first. We took our time once we started on the kitchen, which was about two weeks before Christmas. And we finished about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We didn't rush it. I only worked on it when I could. It was hard when I really wanted to work on it, but the boys needed me. It was so nice once we were finished. Darin took off the doors, sanded them. I sanded the cabinet faces (the cabinet box fronts that are attached to the wall) and primed everything, and then I painted the cabinet faces. Darin bought a sprayer to make it easier and faster to paint the cabinet doors. It was better to do it that way. He did a great job. After he sprayed the doors, I distressed the edges and applied some stain and glaze to certain areas. It makes a huge difference in our house and I'm so happy and glad we did it. It actually wasn't as hard as I thought. It was just time consuming. All together it cost us just under $200. I'm only showing you a tiny part because I'm not finished with decorating and making new window treatments. So stay tuned for that. I LOVE my kitchen!!

After:
So I should be finishing in the next few weeks with the other decor
and I'll take a full shot of the whole thing.

They look really really good. I can't wait to get my kitchen finished. Luckily the cabinets are the easiest part for me. They will be a cinch after replacing countertops. Keep up the good work, it looks awesome.

The kitchen looks amazing! I am so impressed! I would love to paint our cabinets, too, but I don't dare. I LOVE white cabinets but I just know I would screw it up somehow. Maybe in our next home...
