What do you suggest?

Some of you might have some good ideas or ways to start labor. Please let me know of any that have worked for you. I've been out and about running errands and on my feet all day, but absolutely nothing is going on down there. I just need to be patient I guess. Also, Thanks to all those who helped out with the pediatric doctor help. We are going to go with Gilbert Peds. It's only 2 miles from our house. We are so ready for this baby, if only we could pin down a name!

Honestly I have tried everything. You name it I tried it.Spicy food, castor oil(I do not recommend), having sex, jumping up and down, black kohosh(labor inducing herb),rasberry tea, walking, foot massaging, The only thing that ever worked was having my membranes stripped, but my Dr. didn't do it until I was passed my due date. Anything is worth a shot though.

I think you look absolutely beautiful. You definitely have the pregnancy glow!! I am just like Melissa, we tried EVERYTHING to induce labor and what I have learned is that nothing works. The doctor can strip your membranes but that only works if your body has started to do something on its own. Hang in there, I know these last couple of weeks feel like forever but it will be over soon enough and then you will miss being pregnant. Keep us posted on your progress.

With Miranda I went hiking up South mountain and had the baby the next day... With the second one I hiked in Mt. Graham and had Nathan a few days later, which was bad because he was 5 weeks early... then with Mari, I went in for an induction at 39 weeks and it only took one dose of cervigel to get everything going... so my advise is either hiking and/or lots of sex in one day and lay down afterwards for a long time because the cervigel is like that stuff. :) Good luck, you don't have to tell me if you try that stuff. haha

come on alyssa...YOU KNWO WHAT TO DO! my doctor even told me this. well first off- with brody i walked 2 miles and that 'helped' with putting me into labor. with ridge i walked 4 miles and it made my water break. but you know exactly what else i told you the other night...SEX BABY! (you might have to delete this). but honestly, my doctor would just tell me to walk long distances. it's the long consistancy of the contracing that puts you into labor. so he told me to go on one hour long walks. and sure enough...IT DID! GOOD LUCK GIRLFRIEND!!! LOVE YA!!

So Ashlyn was a booger and I was induced at 41 weeks. Not fun. With Hazen I got my membranes striped, went to the mall right after that and walked for a couple of hours. Then I got a fierce craving for a Sonic Brownie Blast. I got stuck in the drive thru for an hour in 112 degree weather. This made me hopping mad and I yelled at the girl at the window (so mean I know, I'm not usually like that). By the time I got home my contractions started 2 min. apart. So get stripped, go walking, get hot and mad and who knows....

Don't do anything - why make yourself uncomfortable just to go through yet another painful uncomfortable experience. I know the end result is great, but do you really want heartburn (from the spicy food)loose bowels (from the castor oil) and stinky breath (from the herbal teas) just before you go into labor. I know the last few weeks feel like a lifetime, but wait it out, it's going to be great and so worth the waiting. Take this time to practice your breathing, find labor positions you like, and find yourself a mantra for during labor. Walking is good no matter what. It's gonna soon, don't worry.

Just before I went into labor with Ava, I got a pedicure, and the lady that did it worked some kind of acupressure magic on me. I swear I went into labor like an hour later (and I was 5 days overdue at that point).

Oh...DON'T DO THE SPICY FOOD THING!! I was throwing up and had the runs almost the entire time because I tried to speed up labor with some very hot food. I would NOT recommend doing that...

alyssa, this is megan craghead (bogle) I am 38 weeks this coming friday and I would do anything to have this baby tonight. I know it is still a little early to be super impatient. Let me know if you try any of these things and they work. My doctor won't induce, even if i am late and so i'm hoping I don't go too much longer. Have you felt anything with the storms? I have had about 10 people tell me they had their kids when it was storming because apparently the change in pressure induces labor. that is what their nurses told them.
