Lovebird Tag....

1. Where did you meet your Husband?

We were set up on a blind date by my brother in-law who Darin works with.

2. What was the first thing you said to him?

"Hi, I'm Alyssa" Then I probably introduced him to my family who was standing there.

3. Where was your first date?

He took me to his singles ward FHE night and we went bowling at ASU, then just Darin & I went to Oreganos to have Pazookie, after that we went to his house to grab a Brian Regan CD he wanted me to hear, then when he took me home he came inside and we looked at my scrapbook and laughed at all of my weird "awkward stage" pictures.

4. Where was your first Kiss?

We were in his room listening to music and I was scratching his back. He waited almost two weeks to kiss me.

5. Did you have a long Courtship/Engagement?

Engaged

We dated for 9 months. He proposed on our nine month mark, and we were engaged for 7 weeks.

6. Where did he propose?

It's kind of a long story. But basically he took me out for our 9 month anniversary. We ate then he suggested we do something fun like go to a neighborhood lake and ride on someones boat. I thought he was crazy, but he drove me to a lake and he made it look like we were "borrowing" someones canoe and there was an island in the middle of the lake and he took me over there. I was freaked out the whole time because I thought the people were going to call the cops or something. Anyway, we got out of the boat and sat on the little island which is called "Christmas tree island" and talked for a little while, then he said he would be right back. I thought maybe he was going around the big bush to go to the bathroom, but he came back with his guitar. I still had no clue at this point that he was going to propose. I just thought it was all so cute and romantic that he had planned this all out. So he asked me if I had any requests, and i told him the play the "question song", which is basically a proposal song, but he always played it for me and i would just hope someday he would really ask me to marry him. So he played that song to my request, even though he was planning on it anyway, then put his guitar down and i told him to keep playing, but he said he wanted to talk to me first. (still no clue!!) he started saying how much he loved me and all that sweet stuff then got on his knee and talked about marriage. OK, little side note, the whole time we dated, we never talked about getting married So when he started saying he wanted to spend forever with me, that's when it all clicked. He asked me, and I said yes, and he first gave me a really ugly fake ring, but a minute later after he stopped laughing at my disappointed look, gave me the real one, and he pulled out a picnic basket with cider, and chocolate covered strawberries. He had my brother in-law and sister come and bring the guitar and picnic basket to the island earlier. I think my mom actually made the chocolate strawberries. It was awesome. That's basically what happened. Told you that was kind of long.

This is Christmas Tree Island.

7. Where were you married?

In the Mesa Temple. September 24, 2004.

8. How did the reception go?

Very well. We actually had our reception the night before we got married. It turned out great. That way the next day there wasn't any stress for the reception at all since it was over, and we could relax and enjoy the day along with everyone else and not be rushed. It was cool to have two days of events. We had a luncheon after we were married then we took off for our honeymoon.

9. Where was the honeymoon?

We went on a 7 day Mexican Riviera Cruise. It was awesome.

I check your blog every day waiting for the news....but I guess little baby wants to hang out in your belly for a little while longer. I LOVE this story. I can totally picture Darin laughing when he gave you the fake ring first. Classic!
